Parmer Medical Center is proud to have Mike Sermon, PA-C as one of our healthcare providers. Mike joined our team of physicians and physician assistants in July 2012 just after graduating from Saint Francis University in Central Pennsylvania and becoming certified as a Physician Assistant. Friona, Texas is a long way from the mountains of Utah and the rolling green hills of Pennsylvania, but Mike gets excited about the fact that, in Friona, “we celebrate cheeseburgers.”
Mike is married to the lovely Shaliese and they are the proud parents of three children – Kennedy age 4, Jackson age 3 and Brooklyn age 3 weeks. His proudest moments include “being born, getting married, and becoming a father.” Those moments almost make him forget his most terrifying moment of crash landing in a hot air balloon and give him pause before trying anything daring for a while! Mike likes living in Friona because “it is a great community and I work with and for great people on a daily basis.”
When he is not working or spending time with Shaliese or playing with the kids, he enjoys mountain biking, ice hockey and listening to or playing music. These things help him balance out the everyday stresses of life and maintain his health. As a Healthcare provider, Mike likes to “tell my patients to stay healthy by eating healthy and exercising. Get your flu shot and immunizations.” He also says it is ok to have a cheeseburger now and again!
