Hospital distributes Vials of Life
Parmer Medical Center, in conjunction with the Area Agency on Aging is distributing "Vials of Life" to seniors in the Parmer County area. The vials are a way for emergency personnel to gain quick access to medical and contact information if they are called to the home. They area especially effective if the individual in need of assistance, or the spouse, cannot communicate vital information quickly and easily.
The vials have a personal medical form that each user can complete and store in the "vial". The vial (which looks like a pharmacy pill container) is then stored in the person’s refrigerator door. A sticker is provided to place on the front door of the home. Then when emergency personnel come, they know to look for the vial.
Parmer Medical Center encourages all seniors to take advantage of this free service. Vials are being distributed in the lobby of the hospital. You can stop by from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm to receive a vial. If there is a "Vial of Life" already in the home, be sure to check that all information is up to date. If you have any questions, contact Heidi Eichenauer at the hospital, 250-2754.
