Hospital announces Scholarship Recipients
Parmer Medical Center is pleased to announce the recipients of the third annual Parmer Medical Center Community Scholarship Progam. The purpose of the scholarships is to promote service excellence in health care for Parmer County by assisting capable and qualified students interested in pursing healthcare related professions. There were fifteen applicants competing for the four scholarships. Applicants were from three Parmer County high schools and a home school.
The selection committee was comprised of school staff, hospital staff and the public at large. They selected four deserving students to each receive a $2,500 award. Hortencia Montana, a Friona High School graduate, is planning on attending University of the Incarnate Word and has chosen Optometry as her profession. The next FHS recipient was Weston Wyly. Weston has chosen a career as a Missionary MD and will be attending Lubbock Christian University.
There were two recipients this year from Bovina. The first, Taylor Prather, was home schooled and plans to also attend Lubbock Christian University. She plans to enter the field of occupational therapy. And our fourth scholar, Jake Brozek, from Bovina High School, plans to attend South Plains College. He also plans to become a physician.
The PMC Board of Directors and staff all wish a hearty congratulations to each of the initial scholarship recipients. An additional thank you goes to each of the other eleven students who also plan a medical career and took the time to apply. Parmer County can be proud of the young people in our area.
