Parmer Medical Center occupies new facility
At 12:00 noon, Wednesday, January 20th, the old facility at Parmer Medical Center closed its doors for the last time. Patients were transferred to the new facility and the emergency services commenced in the new building.
As a reminder, the temporary entrances to the new hospital and to the clinic are located on Cleveland Street at the courtyard area between the clinic and the new hospital facility. The new emergency entrance is located on the north side of the new building on 14th Street, with the walk-in entrance clearly marked “EMERGENCY”.
In addition to several new clinical services lines delivered in a state-of-the-art healthcare setting, the new facility brings a highly patient-focused touch, with larger patient rooms, more patient-friendly lab and radiology areas, and numerous features designed to create a positive hospital experience for patients, family members and visitors.
The new facility will also provide the opportunity to begin development of endoscopy services, sleep disorder studies, in-house aquatic therapy, and specialty clinic services, such as urology, cardiology, wound care, gynecology, dermatology and other specialties for which there is a community need. PMC will begin developing these specialty clinic services in the coming months.
On Thursday, January 28th, the hospital will be hosting “good-bye” tours of the old building. The public is invited to tour the old facility for a last farewell anytime between 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Tours of the new building will also be offered that day at 2:30, 3:15 and 4:00. To participate in a tour of the new facility, please present to the Nursing Station area of the OLD FACILITY at one of the stated times on Thursday, January 28th.
The hospital will also have some items for public auction on the 28th from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The auction will be closed bids and the bids must be made that day. The items in the auction will range from equipment not taken to the new building to the doors and light ballasts in the old building.
The actual grand opening of the new facility will not take place until Phase II of the construction has been completed, in late Summer, 2010. However, we invite you to take part in the activities next Thursday, celebrating the many memories and years of service in the original hospital facility and a look at the many opportunities and excellent service available to you in the new facility.
If you should have any questions regarding the upcoming events, please do not hesitate to contact Heidi Eichenauer, Director of Business Development, 806.250.2754. If you wish to tour the old facility before it is demolished but you are unable to attend the activities on the 28th between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm, please contact Heidi to make alternate arrangements.
